                  Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2012 awards.
                  *  Nicholas Green Award for students in grades 3 - 6
                  *  Educator of the Gifted - NH Excellence in Education Award


                  The Nicholas Green Award

                  NH is proud to be a participant in the National Association for Gifted Children's Nicholas Green Award program. This award is given each year to a deserving gifted student in grades 3-6, to honor the memory of Nicholas Green.

                  Students can be recommended by parents or teachers. Please submit the following to nhagecontact@gmail.com no later than June 1, 2012.

                  Please include the following items  

                  • A cover letter including the child's full name, grade level in 2011-12, school name, and parent or guardian contact information.
                  • Letter(s) of recommendation from someone other than a nominee's family members, such as a teacher or principal, explaining why the student is deserving of the award, what sets him or her apart from others, and how the nominee is impacting others.
                  • 750-word composition written by the student that responds to the following questions: (1) what is the activity or interest area for which the student is being nominated; (2) how did the student become interested/involved in the activity; (3) what impact has the activity had on the student and on others; and (4) how have the student's future plans and goals been affected by this activity or interest area. The composition must address all four questions.

                  Educator of the Gifted

                  NHAGE sponsors the Educator of the Gifted Award which is offered through New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards (formerly know as the Ed'ies).  We are currently accepting nominations for this award.  Please submit a letter of nomination by May 1 to:

                  2011 Nicholas Green Award Winner George Philbrick

                  Congratulations to George Philbrick, the 2011 recipient of the NIcholas Green Award.

                  George received this award as a sixth grade student attending Barrington Middle School. He was nominated by Mrs. Lauren Katz, director of their REACH program. George was one of the first students to take part in this program.

                  George is a well-rounded student who enjoys trumpet, all academic subjects and hockey, and has been a member of the First Lego League team at his school.


                  William Pimley Receives 2011 Educator of the Gifted Award

                  Mr. William PImley, respected administrator and gifted educator at Bicentennial Elementary School in Nashua, NH, is the 2011 recipient of the Educator of the Gifted Award.

                  Mr. Pimley has long been a champion and advocate for all students. His colleagues and administrators praise his ability to be an engaging and innovative teacher.

                  Mr. Pimley played a pivotal role in the development of the REACH program at Bicentennial School. He has shown a great understanding of the unique needs of high ability learners, and how to best challenge them.
